Design Story
The front-facing focal panel centres an interlocking NC monogram on a shield, set in soft Carolina blue against deep navy. A ribbon banner above reads UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA, a second below reads NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS, and the two form a clean vertical spine through the design. Scrollwork rendered in silver-grey tones frames the shield without crowding it, while the lower third shifts into a pale argyle lattice and a founding-year banner. The palette is disciplined: two blues, one off-white, one metallic grey. That restraint is what makes the crest read instantly.
Use & Experience
